Description

Point of View:

Purpose:

The author's point of view was to

depict the meaning of the seal and American identity. The artist was a Swiss painter that was hired by congress to create the seal. He took ideas from Ben Franklin, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson to create the desired seal.

This seal was created because Congress decided they needed a seal. To do so, they hired many artist from around the world to draw one. This specific seal was the first proposal of what congress wanted the seal to look like. From this seal, they took the motto " E Pluribus Unum," which means "out of many, one." Til this day, our seal contains the same motto.
